We’re delighted that so many of you were able to join your children for our first Explorer Cafés and that the responses have been very positive from both children and adults. We have extended the time for Rowan and Oak as several felt there was not enough time- please note the revised start time.

Friday 16th November2.15pm–3pm Mrs Mouland, our Library Volunteer, along with Miss Phillpot and Mrs Davis, will be hosting an Explorer Café all about using the library, choosing and sharing stories with Cherry class children and adults.
Our class Explorer Cafés will have a Christmas theme.
Wednesday 28 November 2pm – 3pm Oak class
Friday 30 November 9am-10am Willow class
Monday 10 December 2pm –3pm Rowan class
Friday 14 December 9am –9.45am Cherry class

Our church school inspection report has now been published, following the inspector’s visit before Easter. We hope you will agree it is a very positive report, and we think, reflects the vision of our school to value and encourage and support every child to learn, grow and achieve, as a ‘whole’ person.
The inspector spent the day in school, much of which was spent talking to the children in lessons, at break and lunch and in groups, such as the School Council and Eco Team. The children’s responses reflected their understanding of our values and their understanding of how they impact on daily life.
The inspector also met with governors and spoke to and received written comments from parents/ carers- so thank you to all those who contributed to those.
We are delighted that he confirmed we are a good school, and he highly praised the ethos of our school finding many strengths, including the following:
‘pupils’ behaviour is excellent and the highly positive relationships between all in the school community are based on mutual respect.’
‘pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding is highly developed, regardless of ability, background or faith of each pupil’.
‘pupils …are socially aware, going out of their way to be helpful to all and having great pride in their school’.
‘levels of attendance are high as pupils say they enjoy coming to school.’
Anna won the writing competition’s £10 book token prize for her Undersea adventure story entitled ‘ Angel and Mer – Treasure
Evie Youngs who won the prize for the art competition, to create an undersea creature. She won a lovely lift the flap book ‘See under the Sea.’
Special mentions were also made in our celebration assembly to Elodie, Faye, Chloe, Libby M and Hugo for their ‘Highly Commended’ entries.
The standard was very high this time, particularly in the entries for the art competition so a big – ‘Well Done!’ to everyone who took part – it was very hard to choose!
Our school leveret has arrived! He was appeared in our ‘launch assembly , where he was unveiled by Marni, and Chloe, who along with many other children had found mystery clues around the school , which we discovered were all ‘Hare’ related!
The children will be planning their design this week, and on Friday March 2, our World Book Day celebrations will be ‘Hare’ themed across all our classes.
The children will be creating their own design, incorporating features of Lyng village. Every child will have the opportunity to paint an element of the chosen designs on our leveret.
He will be collected at the end of term , ready to go on display as one of the Go Go Hares exhibition in and around Norwich .
It was great to see a good number of parents/ carers at our recent parents’ workshop.
The children who shared this approach spoke confidently to their audience about what Growth Mindset means to them. It is obvious they are really developing a good understanding of being a learner with a positive ‘growth mindset!’
Those parents/ carers that attended found it helpful in knowing the approaches we use in school to encourage the children to develop positive attitudes to learning at home too.
